This is a two-month residential course open
to teachers from Sathya Sai Schools and institutions that are
in the process of adopting the Human Values curriculum developed
by this Institute. Participants must stay at the Institute's campus
in Dharmakshetra. They are expected to participate in all activities
on campus, and must adhere to the 'Code of Conduct' for all residents
in Dharmakshetra.
The course requires regular attendance at Seminars
conducted by the Faculty, active participation in Group Discussion
and Workshops, extensive reading of relevant literature, doing
Homework Assignments, and visits to ‘adopted’ schools.
Students are expected to visit the ‘adopted’ schools
to observe lessons, conduct surveys/interviews and take practice
lessons. Each Diploma student will be expected to submit 5 Assignments
and 1 survey/independent study Report. In addition, each student
will take 5 lessons in actual classroom situation. During the
Course, the student is expected to make 2 presentations of 1-hour
duration each on any of the syllabus topics, the presentation
will include a 15-minute Question-Answer session.
The focus of the Course is not merely on increasing
the participants’ academic knowledge but to enhance understanding
of the philosophical foundations and methodology of the curriculum,
to assist them to live up to the values professed, and to promote
their practical teaching capability. The learning material will
broadly cover various areas of knowledge from diverse sources
but they will be mainly supported by the philosophy of Sri Sathya
Sai Baba’s Integral Education.

Advanced Diploma
An Advanced Diploma Course of the duration of
two Semesters (2 months after the Diploma Course) provides in-depth
study of Values Education in the context of national perspectives
in education. It would be of special interest to those who intend
to set up Sathya Sai schools with emphasis on Values education.
Additional topics covered for the Advanced Diploma are marked
with an asterisk (*) in the syllabus.

Course Full Details
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the Diploma Course
are a University degree, professional qualification and a committed
interest in school education. Those already teaching in a school
which has ‘adopted’ the curriculum of Sri Sathya Sai
Education in Human Values will be given preference. Those who
possess special talent in Computer Graphics, Communication or
Management will have an advantage. On completion of a satisfactory
course of study, the Diploma is awarded on recommendation of the
Executive Council of the Institute.
Course Fees
There is no Tuition Fee but students have to
meet their own boarding and lodging expenses. A one-time charge
of Rs.5000/- will be taken for the 2-month course. Simple dormitory-type
accommodation is provided, separate for ladies and gents; Simple
vegetarian meals will be served. In addition, participants have
to pay for travel and sundry expenses, as well as purchase of
books and reading material.
Admission
The Institute reserves the rights to select
the candidates for the course based on the criteria and eligibility
and other directives of the Institute Council. The course enrolment
is limited to 12 participants only. All candidates selected for
the course will be intimated by post or email about the reporting
times and other details. Those that cannot be accommodated in
one batch will automatically be transferred to the next batch
subject to suitability to the candidate.
All candidates will have to confirm their seat
in writing either by email or registered post in order to ensure
that the seat is does not remain vacant. No admission will be
accepted 15 days prior to the start of a particular course date.
There is no formal dress code but participants are expected to
wear respectable clothes.

Additional Information
Dharmakshetra is a 20-minute drive from Mumbai's
Domestic Airport. The 'auto-rickshaw' fare is about Rs. 50. Outstation
participants may alight at 'Kurla Terminus' or 'Dadar Junction',
depending upon train route; only Taxis are available at Dadar
and the fare will be about Rs. 200.
The nearest local Railway Station is 'Andheri'
and one exit to the East side of the platform. From the Railway
Station you may travel either by auto-rickshaw or by taxi; auto-rickshaw
fare is about Rs. 24. Alternatively, you can travel by Bus Route
No. 333 which plies from Andheri East Station to Dharmakshetra
at about 20-minute intervals. The ride from Andheri Station to
Dharmakshetra takes 20-30 minutes. Dharmakshetra is popularly
known in this locality as the ‘Sai Baba Temple.’
